STAR GOLF PREVIEW: FedEx St. Jude Championship with BLUE HORSESHOE

Not bad work last week, landing Michael Brennan at 150/1, writes BLUE HORSESHOE.

It’s been a while between drinks since my last triple-figures winner, but that win shows me that I’m not as stupid as I look. There is value out there in the golf tournaments; you just have to look out for it – more often than not in the form of promising young players flying under the wider market’s radar.

So, we’re into the FedEx Cup season now. Smaller fields, higher quality. This isn’t like most tournaments where a third of the field are no chance to win. Anyone can win these end-of-season formats, but the smaller fields are in everyone’s favour.

Blue Horseshoe Loves:

Ryan Gerard – currently at ? with starsports.bet

I feel it keenly that Ryan Gerard is very close to his first big win. He’s been knocking on the door for weeks, including a great showing at The Open. Not only do I think that he’s going to have a huge season next year, but I also think he’s going to finish this season with a flourish. Don’t be at all surprised to see Gerard right in the mix again this week.

Last week’s winner only just missed out the week before too. The man is clearly on a heater and after last week’s 150/1 result, he owes me nothing. I told you last week that he was the business. Go again Mr. Brennan!

Nico Echavarria – currently at ? with starsports.bet

Nico is my value tip for the week. He charged up the leaderboard in the third round at the Wyndham Championship last week and eventually finished tied 12th. Nico can be streaky, but he also has a bit of the X factor about him and can start rolling in birdies in bunches. If he gets away to a good start in a small field like this, he could end up looking exceptional value.

Sam Burns – currently at ? with starsports.bet

The nearly man of 2026. He went close at a couple of majors this year, but always seemed to find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. That being said, Sam’s game has been in superb nick all year and I think he’s a proper live chance to not only win the St. Jude Championship this week, but the entire Fedex Cup. The guy has been nothing if not consistent in 2026 and he deserves something from the season.
