STAR GOLF PREVIEW: Tour Championship with BLUE HORSESHOE
I can’t help feeling that the Tour Championship continues to be a bit of a damp squib, writes BLUE HORSESHOE.
Try as it might, the PGA doesn’t quite have the end of the season sorted in terms of stakes or excitement. The highest 30 money earners of the year will again gather at East Lake golf club in Atalanta, Georgia to see who will be crowned the Tour Champion.
At least this year they have done away with the dreaded handicapped start, with the top earners given so many shots they might as well call it and head to the bar before a ball was struck in anger. Now everyone starts on the same score, but it all still feels a bit…Meh.
Something needs to be done to ramp up this final weekend on the PGA Tour. Change locations, have players eliminated in running, play it as a match play, or a skins format. Something needs to be changed up to make it feel there’s peril rather than just a procession to another massive pay cheque.
Anyway, that’s my two cents. Speaking of two cents or lack of it, I’m so glad to see the death of LIV. They robbed the PGA tour, and more importantly the fans, of some of the biggest stars in golf. Good riddance.

Blue Horseshoe Loves:
I only like two golfers this week in this small, elite field.
Ryan Gerard – currently at with starsports.bet
Gerard looks really decent value in this compact line up. This young man has been a bit of revelation this year and the fact that he’s in the top thirty money earners for the season speaks volumes to his quality and consistency this year. I think he’s a great chance this weekend at a price. Longer term, keep an eye out for Ryan Gerard in 2027. He will win a big tournament.
Sam Burns – currently at with starsports.bet
This guy has been so close to so many wins this season, Including the Open Championship. He often shoots himself in the foot on the way to the winners podium, but something tells me if he gets into position here, he won’t throw it away. He knows this course well as he’s been at this end of season benefit many times before and I think he’ll be right at the business end on Sunday.
