STAR PREVIEW: Alfred Dunhill Championship with BLUE HORSESHOE

No PGA Tour this week golf fans, so we’ll pop over to South Africa for the Alfred Dunhill Championship. The tournament is being played at the Leopard Creek Country Club, which runs along beside the Kruger National Park, so the scenery alone should be worth the watch.

Blue Horseshoe Loves

Shaun Norris – currently 25/1 with

Norris is a South African player who has won twice on the Sunshine tour and is coming off a solid third place in the Joburg Open last week. He also played well in the U.S. Open. The South African boys tend to play very well in their home tournaments and I think he’ll follow up on last weeks performance and go well again this week.

Wilco Nienaber – currently 22/1 with

Nienaber is another strong local hope. He played very well last week finishing second at the Joburg Open. He should have won, but let his final day lead slip. He’s only starting out on his professional career though and there is no doubt from watching him play that Nienaber has a beautiful swing and bags of talent. It won’t take him long to notch his first European tour win.

Zander Lomard – currently 45/1 with

This big hitting South African is also a talented young player. He’s a little erratic with the driver but if he’s on song he’s plenty long and can put his drives into birdie and eagle positions on what is not an overly long course.

Alvaro Quiros – Currently 200/1 with

Another classy, if somewhat streaky player. If he’s in the mood he can go on a birdie run and can be hard to stop. He tends to perform well in the warmth. These are more than decent each way odds for a multiple European tour winner who should enjoy the sun on his back and this venue.

Chris Wood – currently 250/1 with

Wood has been on the road to recovery from a back injury and is not in the form that has seen him record three wins on the European tour, but word has it that his game is returning to what it was and he might be worth a sneaky little each way punt at these very attractive odds.
