STAR PREVIEW: Arsenal v WBA
[dropcap]M[/dropcap]onday Night Football from the Emirates with the Gunners playing host to West Brom.
It should be fairly straight-forward for Arsenal but the way they are playing at the moment the usual roller-coaster looks on the cards.
West Brom beat Arsenal 3-1 at the Hawthorns in March and this same fixture finished 1-0 to Arsenal in December thanks to Olivier Giroud scoring the only goal of the match on 86 minutes.
West Brom have made a solid start to the new season with wins against Bournemouth and Burnley but have since had two draws against Stoke and West Ham and were beaten 3-1 by Brighton at the Amex.
Itโs the start of a busy week for Arsenal with a Europa League away trip to Belarus to play Bate Borisov on Thursday and back at the Emirates on Sunday for the visit of Brighton.
Arsenalโs manager Arsene Wenger said: “West Brom have the culture of the Premier League, a manager who knows how the league works. They are very strong on set-pieces, solid defensively – it’s tough to score against them.”
Wenger will be without the services of Danny Welbeck who is out for a month with a groin injury but both Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott could return after injury.
For WBA Gareth Barry is all set for a record 633rd Premier League appearance.
Barry said: “As crazy as it sounds after all these years, my focus will be on winning the game.
“When you make your debut as a young kid you’re never setting yourself a target like this. Even when you play 500 games you think you’re coming to the end of your career and you’re not expecting to play many more games.”
