STAR PREVIEW: Burnley v Watford
[dropcap]P[/dropcap]leasing result with the victory of Southampton yesterday. I wasn’t sure that 3-0 was an accurate reflection on the game but will take it.
Burnley and Watford meet for the first time in the top flight tonight at Turf Moor in the final match of a ‘weekend’ which has delivered a bumper number of goals.
Their last four encounters in the Championship have all resulted in a draw and just three points (but six places) separate them in the league table.
The promoted teams Burnley, Hull and Middlesbrough are all finding life quite tough, which is ominous given there’s usually a pre-Christmas adrenalin surge from the newbies.
Watford arrive in Lancashire in good form – bidding for a third successive win having beaten West Ham 4-2 and Man U 3-1.
Their head coach Walter Mazzarri said: “We have shown that we can fight against anyone, but the real step forward I want to see is how we will behave against a club like Burnley.
“I haven’t been here long and I need to verify the progress of this team, and we will see tonight what the progress is.”
