STAR PREVIEW: Capital One Cup Final

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he early afternoon Premier League action undoubtedly was of more interest than the Capital One Cup Fnal at 4.30pm between Liverpool and Man City but we can hope for plenty of goals at Wembley as usually is the case when these two meet.

Liverpool certainly seem to raise their game against Man City and have lost just two of their last nine meetings.

Man City are making life tough for themselves in the Premier League – losing their last two games against title rivals Leicester and Tottenham – both games coming at the Etihad.

Their sub-strength side were thrashed 5-1 by Chelsea in the FA Cup last weekend but their ‘A’ team looked good in the Champions League beating Dynamo Kiev with a great cushion for the second leg thanks to Yaya Toure’s 90th minute goal.

Pellegrini has hinted he will field a strong side as he attempts to sign-off from Man City with a trophy before Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola takes over this summer.

Liverpool have had a fair season under Jurgen Klopp and to lift the trophy would be a great achievement.

They also welcome Man City back to Anfield as soon as Wednesday for a Premier League game.

Liverpool midfielders Adam Lallana (calf) and Joe Allen (hamstring) and defender Martin Skrtel (also hamstring) are all back in training, although might not play.

For Man City Pellegrini is hopeful that captain Vincent Kompany, former Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling and right-back Bacary Sagna can play after having recovery sessions.

Fabian Delph, Kevin de Bruyne and Samir Nasri are all long-term absentees.
