STAR PREVIEW: Champions League Special

[dropcap]C[/dropcap]hampions League quarter-final action tonight and as regular readers will know I usually focus on just one game but at prohibitive odds will need to look at the double tonight.

Star Sports have obliged with a ‘blog special’ rate of 10/11 for the ‘DOUBLE B’ to oblige – Barcelona and Bayern Munich and it looks pretty tempting.

I can’t see there necessarily being plenty of goals but fully expect these heavyweights to make most of their home advantage to take a lead into the 2nd leg.

The bad news is you will need two TV’s to follow the action !

Bayern Munich (2/11) have the simplest task on paper against Benfica. Two of the previous four meetings have finished 0-0 but they haven’t met since 1981 !!

Bayern have only lost once at home this season and despite being short of their best in their most recent Bundesliga wins (both by 1-0) should outclass Benfica who have a two point lead in the Portuguese Liga.

Barcelona were a long way short of their best in their surprise El Clasico defeat on Saturday and haven’t had much time to regroup.

It’s worth noting though Atletico have only won one of their last 18 games against Barcelona.
