STAR PREVIEW: Dynamo Kiev v Everton

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ith Man City knocked out of the Champions League last night (and a good result for the column with the HT/FT bet) Everton are the last British side left in Europe.

The Toffees take a 2-1 first leg advantage to Ukraine tonight but come up against a Dynamo Kiev side who have won 10 of their last 11 home matches in the league and have a 100% record in this competition at home so far this season.

Everton will have a stride in their step though – they have the advantage and on the back of a confidence boosting 3-0 win over Newcastle at Goodison Park last Sunday which has lifted them six points clear of the relegation places.

Defender John Stones and winger Aiden McGeady return to Everton’s squad tonight but Tony Hibbert, Bryan Oviedo and Steven Pienaar are still absent and Aaron Lennon can’t play due to being cup-tied.

Everton midfielder Gareth Barry said “We need to keep calm, stay focused and play our normal game. We have to take the confidence from the first-leg performance. The first 20 minutes were disappointing but we have to take heart from the way we then dominated in the second half. If we go out there and do the same, there is no reason why we can’t go through. Then you can start getting excited and talking about quarter-finals.”
