STAR PREVIEW: Ghouls aplenty at the Stadium Of Fright

[dropcap]O[/dropcap]n the halloween theme, the Premier League swings back into action at the Stadium Of Fright at 12.30pm on Saturday with Sunderland playing host to the Gunners.

It’s been the scariest of starts to the season for Sunderland’s beleaguered supporters and it looks increasingly likely that their top flight survival run will come to an end.

They’ve managed the Houdini act in the last two seasons but already there looks an air of relegation about the side this season and the Gunners will be in no mood for charity given they get chance to strike first this weekend and go to the top of a very compact table.

Sunderland have amassed just two points from nine points this season and were also knocked out of the EFL Cup this week by Southampton – a match which has seen the FA charge Sunderland boss David Moyes with misconduct over his behaviour in the 1-0 defeat.

About the only positive I can find for Sunderland is that they held the Gunners 0-0 in the same fixture last season which might be there best hope again given Sunderland have failed to score in each of their last three games.

Moyes said: “Our confidence is good and the players know they are doing better.

“The results haven’t shown that but the last two results could have been different.

“We want the fans in full voice but what we do on the pitch will determine that so we need to get them off their seats.”

In contrast Arsenal visit Wearside on an incredible unbeaten run of 13 games – their only setback being the dramatic 3-4 loss to Liverpool on the opening weekend.

Arsenal trio Theo Walcott, Nacho Monreal and Santi Cazorla will all face late fitness tests.
