STAR PREVIEW: Glorious Goodwood Day Three
[dropcap]A[/dropcap]nother winner yesterday – short odds admittedly but Solow had plenty in hand at the end of Sussex Stakes despite the half length margin.
Good ground is again forecast for day three when the feature race comes up at 3.10 – the Qatar Goodwood Cup over two miles.
Stats wise, one thing to note about this race is that you have to go as far back as 2002 to find a winner in double figure odds and that was only 10/1.
Scotland was taken out of the race this morning leaving a field of 11 and this certainly should be a truly run race with plenty that like to go from the front.
Trip To Paris has been a complete revelation this year. He rounded off last year by beating only one home in a Yarmouth handicap but has gone from strength to strength since being stepped up in trip and won the biggest stayers prize of all last time out – the Ascot Gold Cup over 2m 4f where he took up the running inside the final furlong and won by a length and a half. He had previously won the Chester Cup over 2m 2f. The way he’s going you might start wondering whether two miles might be on the sharp side for him !! He also has a 4lb penalty to shoulder after his Gold Cup success.
Big Orange won a Group 2 at Newmarket last time out but that came over 1m 4f and he hasn’t convinced (so far) over this two mile trip.
Quest For More is another stayer in rude health. He was a winner over 1m 6f here before going on to win the Northumberland Plate. He has been well backed this morning and is a market mover on our Starters Orders message. He gets the nod at around 4/1.
