STAR PREVIEW: Leicester City v Liverpool
…. and they all lived happily ever after.
That’s how all fairytales end, isn’t it?
Not where Leicester City are concerned that’s for sure. Their 5,000/1 Premier League win last season would have been rejected at the proof stage as ‘too fantasist’ by fairytale publishers but the subsequent twist in the story this season is positively bonkers.
The ignominious sacking of Claudio Ranieri, who last season was promoted to virtual sainthood, has left a sour taste with many and it will be a case of “THIS VEHICLE IS REVERSING” with the public’s love affair with the Foxes.
So much so, just how many NEUTRALS now REALLY want Leicester to be beaten on home soil tonight?
The results went against them too at the weekend which means they are in the bottom three for the first time this season and Liverpool will show no mercy as they have the chance themselves to move into third.
Leicester won this fixture 2-0 last season but that seems a lifetime ago.
Craig Shakespeare is now caretaker manager and said: “In terms of getting teams prepared, I’d like to think my man-management style can do that. There are enough games there and this squad are good enough to get themselves out of this-that will be the message.
“Momentum is a big word in football. We had that last year. What I would say is they’ve trained well over the last few weeks especially. We’ve refocused ourselves.”
