STAR PREVIEW: Liverpool v Sevilla
[dropcap]A[/dropcap] small profit yesterday, thanks to Rashford’s goal for Man U.
Another big night of Champions League football with Liverpool, Man City and Spurs all strutting their stuff.
I’m most interested in the match at Anfield where Liverpool welcome Sevilla – the teams met for the first time in the final of Europa League last season with Sevilla running out 3-1 winners – costing Liverpool an automatic spot in the Champions League.
There should be a fantastic atmosphere an Anfield tonight – the Kop raise the volume levels for a night of European football and Liverpool should come out fighting with something to prove after getting annihilated 5-0 by Man City in the Premier League on Saturday – and yes, that was the match I fancied ending up being a draw 🙁
Jurgen Klopp said: “Nothing that happened on Saturday will stop us.”
Liverpool haven’t reached the knockout stage of the Champions League since 2008-9 when they were beaten by Chelsea in the quarter-finals.
Sevilla are unbeaten so far this season and will relish playing at Anfield according to their coach Eduardo Berizzo who said: “Players of a certain level and personality grow when they come to a stadium and atmosphere like this, they grow in strength.
“Few times in your career do you get to play in front of an atmosphere like this. I am confident the players in my squad are very brave and honest with lots of character and personality.”
For Liverpool Philippe Coutinho is “fit and healthy” and might start after missing the first five games with a back injury. Loris Karius will play in goal.
