STAR PREVIEW: Liverpool v Villarreal
[dropcap]P[/dropcap]rofitable night last night with the recommended HT/FT on Real Madrid but again it was mighty hard work getting it over the line.
Switching to the Europa League tonight for the semi-final second legs and it should be another classic European night at Anfield.
Villarreal must consider themselves fortunate to be coming over with a 1-0 first leg lead thanks to an injury time winner but it certainly gives them the edge as they bid to continue the Spanish domination of the two big tournaments.
I’m fairly certain Villarreal will try and defend their lead by parking up the bus. They’ve only scored four goals in their last five games but have also kept a clean sheet in their last three matches so you can see where they may be heading.
Villarreal manager Marcelino said: ”We come here full of hope. We are going to give everything we have got and enjoy ourselves. We feel we have the capabilities to make it through to the final.”
He added: ”Liverpool as a club have an extraordinary squad of footballers when you consider Benteke cost the whole turnover as Villarreal as a club. But this group of players needs to be proud of what they have achieved as we are already qualified for the Champions League. This is an occasion to be celebrated.”
Liverpool need to win the Europa League to qualify for the Champions League next season but Villarreal have already done that by securing a top four finish in La Liga.
