STAR PREVIEW: Man City v Wolves

Liverpool had to fight tooth and nail to get back on track and keep their lead over Manchester City at the weekend, and it’s entirely possible that City could have a hard fight against Wolves this evening.

City, understandably, are a short price to keep the gap to four points – and very much make this a two horse race once again after Tottenham’s defeat at the weekend – but Wolves are unlikely to make things that simple for them.

Nuno’s side have made life very difficult for the top sides since their re-arrival in the top flight. They are one of just two sides to have taken points off Manchester City (back when they met in August), they were then perhaps unlucky not to take more than just a point against Arsenal at the Emirates, they did take all three points against Tottenham at Wembley, and they also beat Chelsea 2-1 at Molineux. Two of those results are in the last month and they once again proved their ability to rise to a challenge when they knocked Liverpool deservedly out of the FA Cup just after the New Year.

In the shape of Raul Jimenez, Digo Jota, Reueben Neves and Jonny they have the personnel to go toe to toe with the best as they’ve shown, and those who watched them in the Championship last season will not be that surprised that they have taken nine points from their matches with the big six, an impressive number given the gap between the big six and the rest in this league season.

City have hammered Rotherham and Burton Albion in entertaining fashion and won 15 of their 17 games at the Etihad, and of course one can’t forget their quality – which is amazing with Kevin De Bryune back. Gabriel Jesus filled his boots against Burton and at some point the quality of Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, David Silva and Bernardo Silva should tell.

Wolves have conceded more than twice just once in a Premier League game this season – and on that occasion they went down 3-2 to Tottenham, a very respectable performance. The 7/5 on them staying within a two goal handicap looks to be a big price and the 8/15 on them staying within three even better.
