There were some intriguing midweek fixtures in the National League this week with Stockport County continuing their resurgence under Dave Challinor with a 5-0 win over King’s Lynn Town. Table-topping Chesterfield were held by Altrincham but second-placed Boreham Wood failed to capitalise on this as they drew 1-1 with Notts County.
At the other end of the table, the relegation six-pointer between Maidenhead United and Southend United was called off due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the Maidenhead camp. Aldershot Town took full advantage of this by securing a 1-0 win over Torquay United to lift themselves out of the bottom-three.
There should be plenty more excitement and drama to come this weekend, though. Here are our betting tips for what is sure to be another thrilling gameweek of National League action!
King’s Lynn Town v Aldershot Town
15:00 National League
Aldershot Town have looked rejuvenated under new boss Mark Molesely, overcoming a tricky start to his reign, winning their last two league fixtures and lifting themselves out of the dreaded drop-zone. Teams in-and-around them still have games in hand which could soon plunge them back into the bottom-three, but it will have given them a confidence boost nonetheless.
King’s Lynn Town, on the other hand, are desperately out-of-form and already look in big trouble. They have lost their last seven matches in the National League and have only won one of their last ten. Their leading striker Junior Morias being poached by Dagenham & Redbridge recently merely rubbed salt into their already gaping wound.
King’s Lynn have a good coach in Ian Culverhouse, former assistant to Paul Lambert at Norwich and Aston Villa, but even he must be wondering how he gets his floundering side out of this. We’re backing Aldershot to continue their improved form and come away with three points here.

Yeovil Town v Dover Athletic
15:00 National League
Darren Sarll’s Yeovil Town continued their upturn in form with a fine 2-1 away win over high-flying Bromley on Tuesday night at Hayes Lane, the first defeat in 12 games for Andy Woodman’s side. The Glovers are now unbeaten in their last five and have risen to 13th in the table.
Dover Athletic’s miserable start to the season continued with a 3-1 defeat to Halifax on Saturday and a 3-2 loss to Wealdstone on Tuesday night. Despite it still being early on in the campaign, cash-strapped Dover already look destined for relegation. In fact, it’s hard to even see them getting to 0 points at this rate with Andy Hessenthaler’s side still sitting on -9 after their 12-point deduction.
Yeovil Town, in the form they’re in, should expect to comfortably breeze past the hapless Whites in this match on Saturday. We’re backing Yeovil on -1 handicap.

Notts County v Dagenham & Redbridge
17:20 BT Sport 1 / BT Sport Ultimate
In the televised National League match of the weekend, Notts County take on Dagenham & Redbridge in a tasty-looking affair between two sides aiming for promotion to the EFL this season.
Dagenham started the season incredibly brightly, with manager Daryl McMahon winning the Manager of the Month award for August/September, but have since suffered a slight dip in form; winning only two of their last six matches and slipping down to 10th in the table.
Notts County are still blowing hot and cold under Ian Burchnall. They’ve won three, drawn two and lost one of their last six fixtures but are yet to produce the sort of consistency it would require to hunt down Chesterfield at the top of the table.
I am expecting a tight and cagey encounter between these two sides at the weekend. We’re backing under 2.5 goals at 10/11 in this one.
