A great start for England with their seven-wicket victory in the first Twenty20 in Christchurch. James Vince took a starring batting role with 59 off 38 balls whilst in the bowling department Chris Jordan took 2-28. It was just a complete performance from England and I can’t really fault them. The mix of experience and new blood worked well and I was pleased to see Pat Brown get a wicket.
The second game of the five-match series is at Wellington at 1am Sunday – perfect timing if you are staying up for the Breeders’ Cup – don’t forget the black coffee in-between.
Fingers crossed we win the toss again as it can really reward positive and aggressive play.
Sadly, England’s exploits in New Zealand weren’t matched in Japan. I watched the Rugby World Cup Final and the writing was on the wall from very early on in the game. It was almost as if they were over-playing and it all looked rushed in the first 10 minutes. Looking back, was the monumental effort to beat New Zealand ‘England’s Final’?
For the second T20 my recommended starsports.bet picks are Pat Brown to be the top England wicket taker. His confidence should have been boosted by the first T20 and the Worcestershire player can continue to make his mark on the bigger stage.
I’ll stick with James Vince to be top England batsman over starsports.bet current favourite Jonny Bairstow.
