STAR PREVIEW: Rochdale v Spurs

Two more Fifth Round games in the FA Cup and both look as one-sided as you can expect.

At 4pm Spurs take on bottom of League One Rochdale for the right to play Sheffield Wednesday or Swansea in the Quarter Finals and tomorrow sees Man City travel to Wigan.

Plenty of controversy about the pitch at Spotland which has now been re-laid and forced an apology from Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino who had previously said that the surface was ”not in a condition to play football”.

He added: ”My comment was always about the care, first of all for the players of Rochdale, our players and the competition – it is a game that all of England will watch on TV.

”I was shown a picture where the pitch wasn’t in great condition, I was concerned about the FA Cup, the football and the image we were going to send.

”There was a lot of comments around Tottenham but I was always very respectful. Now I’ve seen [the new pitch] on the Rochdale website, I need to congratulate them – it was massive to put the pitch in the best condition to play, without risk.”

Rochdale have had a great Cup run but a disastrous league campaign and look doomed now for relegation to League Two.

They have plenty of headaches today too with striker Calvin Andrew ruled out with injury and Scott Wiseman, Alex Dobre, Billy Knott and Sam Hart all cup-tied.

Harry Kane is a doubt with a twisted ankle but (for once) Spurs are likely to rely on the Special K factor today.
