STAR PREVIEW: Roma v Chelsea

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t was certainly a treat, rather than a trick last night with the Burnley home win against Newcastle giving the column’s P&L a decent boost.

Back to the Champions League for eight ‘halloween’ matches including Chelsea, Man U and Celtic.

Backers of Chelsea were given a fair few frights by Roma when they met at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago.

The Blues looked to be cruising when Hazard put them 2-0 up after 37 minutes but Roma not only fought back but took the lead after 70 minutes, before Hazard saved Chelsea’s blushes with an equaliser in what proved a hugely entertaining game.

It’s highly likely we’ll see plenty of goals tonight (unlike Turf Moor last night) with either side knowing they’ll top Group C if securing all three points and even more crucially for Chelsea a win could secure a last-16 spot with the luxury factor of two games to spare if the Atletico result goes their way.

Team news favours Chelsea who could receive a boost from the return of N’Golo Kante after his hamstring injury whereas Roma are likely to be without forwards Patrik Schick (thigh) and Gregoire Defrel (ankle), and defenders Bruno Peres (hamstring) and Rick Karsdorp (cruciate ligament).

There’s very little to choose between the pair in the market but Roma are just preferred at around 6/4 with Star Sports against a Chelsea side who historically have underperformed on their Italian soirees.
