STAR PREVIEW: Sanderson Farms Championship with BLUE HORSESHOE

Another week another placing from a 54 Hole lead. Adam Long looked like a great shout starting the final day two shots in the lead last week. But as has so often been the case lately, Blue Horseshoe’s tip played a woeful final round to fall out of the lead and stumble into a place.

I’ll take the place at 25-1 but all these places are getting a little annoying to be honest. That’s golf betting, I guess and that’s why the odds are so attractive.

This week we are down south in Mississippi at the Sanderson Farms Championship. It’s a fairly benign layout with past winners carding around 20 under par. It doesn’t seem to point to any particular advantage for straight drivers or long hitters, so I’m going on strong trends of recent form.

Blue Horseshoe Loves:

Rafa Cabrera Bello – currently at 70/1 with

Rafa’s performances have been trending well lately and he looks good each way value at 70/1

Adam Long – currently at 33/1 with

As much as I was frustrated with Long’s final round performance I am willing to take the place money and go with him again. His first three rounds were excellent and Long only missed out by one place in making the PGA’s top 30 money earners last season. That sort of consistency is significant.

Doc Redman – currently at 28/1 with

Redman has had a string of good performances over his last few outings. He is trending well and looks set to break through sooner or later and he stands a good chance to finish prominently this week.

Henrik Stenson – currently at 40/1 with

Stenson is clearly getting himself prepared for the Masters in November. We all know what a high class player Stenson is and in a relatively weak field like this, he is well capable of picking up a win on the way to Augusta. I think he’s great each way value here.

Talor Gooch – currently at 80/1 with

Gooch hit a purple patch of form late in the previous season and just missed out on his maiden PGA Tour win. If he gets away to a good start, Gooch is well capable of winning and could be excellent value at 80/1.
