STAR PREVIEW Sat: Liverpool v Tottenham

Liverpool will return to the top of the Premier League if they can beat Tottenham Hotspur when the two sides meet at Anfield on Saturday evening in a pivotal clash in both the title race and the tussle for a top-four place.

The Reds had looked to be cruising through to the Champions League final after their 2-0 victory in the first-leg of their semi-final tie against Villarreal, but Unai Emery’s side gave them an almighty scare on Wednesday night.

Within 45 minutes, Liverpool’s advantage had been wiped out through goals from Boulaye Dia and former Arsenal man Francis Coquelin. However, a second-half resurgence from the Reds – inspired by the introduction of Luis Diaz – led Liverpool to a 3-2 comeback win and a spot in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Their attention must quickly switch back to the Premier League title race, though, with a tricky test against Tottenham to maneuver past on Saturday.

Once again, Klopp has close to a fully-fit squad to pick from with Roberto Firmino the only doubt after missing the last few matches.

Tottenham are still in with a shout of a top-four finish, but an injury crisis among Antonio Conte’s squad has threatened to derail their bid for a Champions League return in recent weeks.

Flying full-back Sergio Reguilon is the latest Spurs player to find himself on the treatment table with the Spaniard suffering from a calf problem that could rule him out for the remainder of the season.

On top of the injuries to Matt Doherty, Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga, Spurs are down to close to the bare bones although they may be boosted by the return of influential attacker Dejan Kulusevski who missed Tottenham’s 3-0 victory over Leicester City.

Both of these sides boast impressive strike-forces so goals could be on the menu here, but Liverpool are looking to difficult to stop on current form and this will be a tough challenge for an injury-stricken Spurs. We’re backing Liverpool to win with both teams scoring with Luis Diaz to score anytime.
