STAR PREVIEW Sun: National League Betting Tips

It is the final day of the National League season and, as ever, we’re expecting a thrilling and exciting rollercoaster ride. We have you covered with our betting tips!

Eastleigh v Grimsby Town
15:00 National League

With Eastleigh safe from relegation and Grimsby assured of a play-off spot, there is very little to play for when the two sides meet at the Silverlake Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Spitfires’ season has well and truly petered out in recent weeks with Lee Bradbury’s side picking up just two wins from their last ten games.

Grimsby, on the other hand, picked up their form just at the right time; winning four of their last six to secure a play-off spot and the opportunity to make an immediate return to the EFL after relegation from League Two last season.

Paul Hurst may shuffle the pack with the play-offs on the horizon, but the Spitfires look so far on the beach that it is hard to see them picking up a result against a strong Mariners side. I am backing Grimsby to get all three points at 8/13 as the first bet of the weekend.

Stockport County v FC Halifax Town
15:00 National League

After an exciting and topsy-turvy title race, it all comes down to this weekend. Stockport will be hoping to seal top-spot ahead of Wrexham on Sunday, but face a tough side in FC Halifax Town at Edgeley Park.

Last week’s 3-0 defeat to Wrexham put a serious dent in their title ambitions, but Dave Challinor’s side recovered by winning their game in hand against Torquay United on Wednesday night with main man Paddy Madden scoring the decisive goal.

FC Halifax will be coming to spoil the party, though, and have proven themselves to be a tough test for any side this season. They currently sit in 4th-place in the National League, but are still in with a chance of finishing third which would mean they bypass the first eliminator match of the play-offs and go straight to the semi-finals.

Stockport haven’t exactly ended the season in the strongest of fashions, and have made it nervier than perhaps it needed to be, but they should have the quality to come through this and I expect them to keep their nerve. I am backing them to win this game and, ultimately, win the league on Sunday.

Dagenham & Redbridge v Wrexham
15:00 National League

Regardless of what happens at Edgeley Park on Sunday, Wrexham will want to end the season in strong fashion but also, if they were to be a Stockport slip-up, make sure that they are there to take advantage of it.

Phil Parkinson’s side need Stockport to fall to defeat if they are to have any chance of lifting the league title on Sunday, but they also need to make they do their job by beating Dagenham & Redbridge at Victoria Road.

Wrexham have ended the season in strong fashion, winning four of their last six matches, with Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer forming a very formidable partnership up-front.

Dagenham, though, have their own priorities and could still sneak into the play-off positions if they are able to win and Chesterfield lose to Woking.

Wrexham are not always the most reliable side, but there is definitely still belief – particularly after they defeated Stockport last week – that they can do it and there could be a Hollywood ending for the club owned by two Hollywood stars.

It won’t be an easy game, and I am expecting both teams to find the back of the net, but I also think that Wrexham will put the pressure on Stockport by winning this game.
