STAR PREVIEW Thurs: Bermuda Championship with BLUE HORSESHOE
This week we head to the islands and as far as PGA Tour courses go Port Royal golf course in Bermuda, is a tiddler at only 6828 yards. But just because the course is short doesn’t mean that it’s easy. The Caribbean trade winds blow through here and if they blow with any force they can turn many of these holes into scorecard wreckers.
In my hunt for value this week I’ve looked for players that can play in wind and others that have the length to dominate a short track and turn the par fives into birdies or eagles.
Blue Horseshoe Loves:
Aaron Wise – currently at 40/1 with starsports.bet
Wise is a class player. Much like Daniel Berger, Wise seems to be Finding his way back to his game, with a couple improved performances this season. If his game clicks into place here he could be hard to beat.
Brendon Todd – currently at 14/1 with starsports.bet
Todd won this event last year. His game has gone from strength to strength since that point and he . has become a serious contender in every tournament he enters now. He will have bags of belief and and confidence one year on from his win at this venue and that may be enough to do the double.
Henrik Norlander – currently at 45/1 with starsports.bet
Norlander has been a on upward trend of performances of late and he played well in the similar conditions of the Dominican Republic a few weeks ago. This talented young player could take his opportunity in this relatively weak field.
Ollie Schniederjans – currently at 100/1 with starsports.bet
This is a guy I have been following for a while. He was in the PGA Tour a couple of years ago but couldn’t manage to keep his card due to inconsistency. He sits quite high on the Koran Ferry money list this year and one thing is for sure; this lad has talent and he hits it an absolute mile. On a short track like this he could be looking at more than a few birdie opportunities, providing he can control his ball flight in the trade winds.
Keith Mitchell – currently at 100/1 with starsports.bet
Mitchell won his first PGA tour event last year and has been near the top of the leaderboard in a good number of events since. He is another guy that can hit it into the next postcode and these odds are far too generous for a player with his ability. He can more than hold his own in this field and is great each way value.
