STAR PREVIEW Thurs: Liverpool v Leicester City
Leicester ended 2021 with a 1-0 victory over Liverpool but as the two clubs meet in 2022, it looks highly likely that Jurgen Klopp’s men could push Rogers out of his job with victory at Anfield.
The Leicester boss is now 5/2 favourite with Star Sports to be the next manager to leave a Premier League club, a price that looks value given their displays in recent weeks. Since a 4-1 win against Watford in the FA Cup, Leicester have collapsed late on to a 3-2 defeat against Tottenham, were indebted to goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel for saving a point against Brighton and were utterly abysmal when Championship side Nottingham Forest ended their defence of the FA Cup in a 4-1 trashing.
Being eliminated from the Cup will have hurt but the nature of that performance – one which came with a strong side featuring Kelechi Iheanacho, James Maddison, Youri Tielemans, and Wilfried Ndidi – will give serious cause for concern.
The return of Jamie Vardy, Ryan Bertrand, Jonny Evans, Timothy Castagne and Wesley Fofana cannot come soon enough but none will be playing tonight and Leicester appear to be visiting Anfield at the worst possible time.

Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to turn to AFCON finalists Sadio Mane (unavailable) and Mo Salah (played four extra-time ties with Egypt) but Liverpool have coped just fine without them, winning four out of five games in all competitions, and reaching the EFL Cup final in their absence.

Diogo Jota scored both goals in a 2-0 victory against Arsenal to book their ticket to Wembley whilst new signing Luis Diaz made the perfect start to life at Liverpool with an assist against Cardiff in the FA Cup last Sunday, and both will put pressure on a Leicester defence that has kept just four clean sheets in 31 games this season (all competitions).
Liverpool are set for a very testing month – they have four Premier League fixtures, a Last 16 Champions League tie against Inter, and then the EFL Cup final against Chelsea before March – but their squad appears to be in decent health with Fabinho, Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones all vying for spots.
Liverpool have passed a one goal handicap in their last four games, but they’re just 4/7 to do so with Star Sports and it might be worth chancing the 7/5 that they can win by 3 or more tonight.
