STAR PREVIEW Tues: Atletico Madrid v Liverpool

Liverpool will be out for revenge on Atletico Madrid – after the Spanish giants famously knocked the Reds out of the 2019/20 Champions League at Anfield – when the two sides meet at the Metropolitano Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Atletico had to be patient for their first win of the Champions League group stage, but they secured it in dramatic fashion with Antonie Griezemann levelling the scores against AC Milan in the 84th-minute before Luis Suarez won it in the seventh minute of stoppage-time.

They are yet to capitalise on the troubles of Real Madrid and Barcelona in their domestic campaign, though. Despite the two giants faltering in the league, it’s Real Sociedad that currently sit top of the pile with Atletico lying in fourth-position.

With Joao Felix, Antoine Griezemann and Luis Suarez likely to form a front-three, it is clear that Simeone is not short of world-class talent to pick from. His side are also very strong at home, unbeaten in their last 12 fixtures at the Metropolitano Stadium.

This is going to be a huge challenge for Liverpool, but in the form they are currently in in the Champions League, you wouldn’t be surprised to see a big performance from them.

Liverpool absolutely demolished FC Porto in their last Champions League outing and will be looking to continue their rich vein of form in European competition on Tuesday evening in Madrid.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all from Mohamed Salah, he goes and produces another simply sublime goal like the one he scored at Watford at the weekend. After twisting and turning past multiple defenders, the Egyptian slammed a fabulous finish past Ben Foster to score the fourth goal of Saturday’s 5-0 victory over the Hornets. Another wonderful goal to add to Salah’s ever-growing highlight reel.

The Reds are now unbeaten in their last 20 matches in all competitions and, despite not adding much in the summer transfer window, are starting to look like a real force again after failing to defend their Premier League title last season.

They will be boosted for tonight’s game by the comebacks of goalkeeper Alisson Becker and midfield dynamo Fabinho who missed their last match due to their late returns from international duty with Brazil. Diogo Jota may also return to the starting eleven after he was rested against Watford.

Although Atletico are famed for their organisation and defensive structure, it is hard to see Liverpool failing to score in a match at the moment. With Mohamed Salah in the form he’s in, with trusted teammates Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino alongside him, the Reds look terrifying in front of goal once more.

With Simeone also possessing a plethora of attacking options as mentioned previously, this should be an exciting match. We’re backing both teams to find the back of the net with Mohamed Salah getting on the score-sheet anytime.
