STAR PREVIEW: Wales v Israel
[dropcap]P[/dropcap]rofit yesterday when the England handicap bet was landed in their match against San Marino.
All eyes on Wales this afternoon as they take on Israel at 5pm and the Welsh are odds on to do something they have never done before – win qualification to the European Championship.
Ironically, Israel were also their opponents 57 years ago when the Wales team qualified for the World Cup in Sweden.
Chris Coleman’s resurgent side (better than England if the latest FIFA rankings are to be believed) will qualify with a win today with the luxury of two games to spare. They currently top Group B on 17 points but crucially a win for Israel would see them with a chance of moving into second so there’s still plenty at stake. They will take considerable confidence though from the fact they have already beaten Israel comfortably – 3-0 in March in the reverse leg in Israel when the home side had Eitan Tibi sent off after 51 minutes.
I did enjoy the tweet saying the Wales starting XI was:
Bale, Not Bale, Not Bale, Not Bale, Not Bale, Not Bale, Not Bale, Not Bale, Not Bale, Not Bale, Not Bale.
The ACTUAL Wales starting XI is:
01 Hennessey
02 Gunter
06 Williams
18 Davies
04 Richards
07 Edwards
08 King
03 Taylor
10 Ramsey
11 Bale
09 Robson-Kanu

In terms of a bet nothing stands out strongly. I fancy a tight first half with Wales edging it – so DRAW/WALES makes appeal at around 4/1 with Star Sports.
