STAR PREVIEW Weds: Wolves v Manchester City

Manchester City will be hoping to take a big step towards the Premier League title when they make the trip to Molineux to face-off against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night.

Wolves have enjoyed a strong first season under Portuguese coach Bruno Lage and look set for a very respectable top-half finish.

They battled back from 2-0 down at Stamford Bridge in their last league outing with a two-minute double from Romelu Lukaku firing the Blues ahead before goals from Trincao and Conor Coady managed to salvage a late point for the West Midlanders.

It ended Wolves’ three-match losing streak after suffering successive defeats to Newcastle United, Burnley and Brighton.

They face a very tough test in Manchester City in rampant form, though, but might be able to welcome back influential attacker Daniel Podence who is making good progress in his recovery from an ankle injury.

Pep Guardiola’s side responded to their devastating defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals last week in the perfect way by thrashing Newcastle United 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Goals from Raheem Sterling and Aymeric Laporte had City 2-0 up at the break before Rodri, Phil Foden and Sterling added more gloss to the scoreline in the second-half.

City are now in the driving seat for the title, but were hit with a major blow in the shape of potentially season-ending injuries to defenders Kyle Walker, John Stones and Ruben Dias. This means Guardiola will have to shuffle the pack in defence at a critical time in the season; offering hope to Liverpool that the Cityzens could still yet slip up.

Despite this, though, City look so potent in attack at the moment that they should be able to outfire opponents even if they suffer struggles at the other end. We’re backing Man City and over 2.5 goals as well as Raheem Sterling to score anytime.
