Star Sports Greyhound Derby 2020 Dates Confirmed

The Star Sports, ARC & LPS Greyhound Derby 2020

The dates have been confirmed !!

A dispensation has been granted once again to extend the competition by two days which means that the need for the quick succession between the Third Round and the Quarter Final is removed. This idea was well received in 2019 as it gives the greyhounds a greater resting opportunity at an important point in the competition plus aiding those trainers travelling from a distance. It also assists those that want to attend trackside by facilitating weekend scheduling.

The entry fee will remain at £250 as per 2019 which makes it accessible for all those wanting to live the ‘Derby Dream’.

“The winner’s purse is set at £100,000 and we are extremely grateful once again to Star Sports, ARC and Local Parking Security Limited for their financial support. We consider ourselves very fortunate that Ben Keith, ARC and Richard & Donna Evans share our passion and appreciate the significance of the Derby to so many in our sport”.

“The Derby will be earlier in the calendar this year due to a desire not to clash with football’s Euro 2020 competition along with avoiding some major summer horse race meetings. Bringing greyhound racing’s Derby forward has also enabled us to avoid a clash with a local music festival which necessitated us moving last year’s 3rd Round to a Friday evening” says Nathan Corden.

Entries for The 2020 Star Sports, ARC & LPS Greyhound Derby will close at 3.00pm on Tuesday 14th April 2020 with the list of accepted runners and reserves to be announced 24 hours later at 3.00pm on Wednesday 15th April 2020. The First Round draw will take place at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium at 1.00pm on Friday 17th April 2020.
