Summer has arrived… Windsor is back

STAR EVENT: WINDSOR
First Monday of the new season
TIME: 2.20 – 5.20
TV: ATR

OK, so finding the Star ‘Event of the Day’ after the drama at Augusta last night might just be a challenging project.

In the early hours of this morning it was just sport at its absolute best.

If Adam Scott hadn’t have won you just wonder how it might have impacted his career going forward after he quite rightly thought he’d won it at the 18th in regulation time when sinking the only decent length putt of pretty much his whole week. But he finally bagged a first major and put to bed the heartache of blowing a four shot lead in the Open last year.

If you missed the drama of the playoff – here is the winning putt….

Back to today and it’s officially summer right? ….. Windsor are racing again on a Monday.

It’s an afternoon card today but won’t be long before it’s Pimms by the Thames every Monday night through the summer.

My weather pundit says 16 (plus!) today and ‘sunny intervals’ so we’re getting there after a winter that’s gone on for 18 months.

As for today’s card the maiden at 4.20 sees an interesting early skirmish between John Gosden and Sir Michael Stoute. Gosden’s Punditry only looks average by the high standards of the yard and the Stoute newcomer Strength And Honour is so far easy to back.

At Star Sports there’s some money flying around for debutant Refer so that should be a saver with a main bet on David Lanigan’s Portmonarch who was a good fourth at Newmarket at a bullseye 50/1 and will be suited by the two extra furlongs.

If this one wins it really will be Pimms ‘o’ Clock.

STAR FORECAST
(stake between 0.5 and 10 points)
3 point win Portmonarch
1 point win Refer

(-4 points on the golf)
