The Ladbrokes Laurels semi-finals were the highlight of Belle Vue’s card on Thursday evening and Farloe Warhawk will now be a red-hot favourite for the decider. The £6,000 Category Two showdown will take place on Tuesday and will be the centrepiece of eight races being broadcast live on Sky Sports.

The first semi saw Barrie Draper’s Farloe Warhawk show good early pace and lead at the first bend. However, it was never plain sailing as Longwood Fantasy battled hard to stay with the 4-9 jolly but was eventually beaten 1 3/4L by the 27.82sec winner.

The second eliminator went to Stuart Mason’s Alien Planet (4-1) who rode a first bend bump to lead at the fourth bend and beat Boher Chieftain by 3/4L in 28.02sec.
Taylors Sky, the 11-10 jolly, was crowded at the first bend and forced to check at the second and finish back in fifth position.
