STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Mon: Bournemouth v West Ham
This Premier League gameweek has seen plenty of drama for top managers but Andoni Iraola is having an excellent campaign and his Bournemouth side can put the pressure back on West Ham and Julen Lopetegui. writes WILLIAM KEDJANYI.
Iraola has overseen huge improvement from Bournemouth, who he took to 12th place last season after an initial relegation struggle, and they sit seventh at the time of writing after their best run of the season. A hat-trick of wins over Wolves, Tottenham and Ipswich was the perfect response to consecutive losses against Brentford (2-3 away) and Brighton (1-2 at home).
Their tightest win was against Spurs, but they ought to have won by far more and that success made it t four wins out of five at home, with two of the other three scalps being Arsenal (2-0) and Manchester City (2-1).
The hosts are having to deal with the absences of Marcos Senesi, Marcus Tavernier, Luis Sinisterra and Julian Araujo but they still have a mostly fit squad to choose from including in-form players such as Evanilson, Antoine Semenyo and Justin Kluivert.

West Ham bounced back from a pair of bruising defeats to Arsenal and Leicester with a crucial win against Wolves last Monday in a match that was labelled as ‘El Sackico’, such was the pressure on Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui and the now sacked Gary O’Neill.
That victory for the Hammers put them into 14th, with some breathing space over the relegation zone after defeats for strugglers Southampton, Wolves and Leicester, although improvement is still something Lopetegui needs, especially defensively.
The form of a scrappy 2-1 win against Wolves was never likely to read well in any context – just beforehand they’d conceded eight in two games against Bournemouth and Everton – and their late collapse against Ipswich at the weekend shows the troubles they are facing at the moment.
The Hammers do have genuine quality with last week’s matchwinner Jarrod Bowen, and Mohammed Kudus, but defensively they’re as vulnerable as any side in the league this season, conceding 28 goals in 15 league games.
Seventh-placed Bournemouth are thoroughly deserving of their position and could even be higher, given how impressive their underlying performances have been (fourth in the Understat table and third in the Sporting Life attacking charts), and on them notching another home win with starsports.bet looks more than fair.
