STAR GOLF PREVIEW: Rocket Classic with BLUE HORSESHOE

It’s getting towards squeaky bum time for those around the top 70 on the PGA tours money ladder for the season, writes BLUE HORSESHOE.

Those outside the top 70 don’t get to progress to the highly lucrative FedEx Cup Playoffs starting in mid-August.

So this all counts to the Rocket Classic being a big opportunity for some of those bubble boys to stamp their tickets to the FedEx Cup, as a good deal of the big names are taking the week off from Detroit.

Ryan Gerard – currently at ? with starsports.bet

Gerard has been a bit of a revelation this year. He’s had a number of near misses for the win over the last month or two. This young man looks the goods. He’ll be a player who will be around for many years on tour and who will pick up multiple wins. He gave a great showing at Open Championship and now he’s rested from taking last week off, there’s no reason why he can’t kick on for the win here.

Michael Brennan – currently at ? with starsports.bet

This is another young player who I really rate. His name has been a constant presence on leaderboards over the season. He went close last week and he’s clearly in a good groove confidence wise. It would be no surprise at all to see him feature again this week.

Kevin Roy – currently at ? with starsports.bet

Roy is massive money to my eye. He’s been very consistent all season and just needs to be a bit sharper across all four rounds for him to win or place at any old money. Keep an eye on this man. If he gets away to a good start, he could be stonking value.

Lee Hodges – currently at ? with starsports.bet

It’s just compulsory now. He got close to the win three weeks ago but still managed to throw it away. If this man ever wins again, I’ll react and celebrate like those Mayo fans in the All Ireland Championship last weekend.
