MANCHESTER UNITED v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR PREVIEW

Spurs haven’t won any of their five fixtures, scoring just two goals, which means pressure is already falling on the shoulders of Roberto De Zerbi, who certainly doesn’t have the excuse that he wasn’t backed in the summer.

United were given a fairly generous opening group of fixtures but they’ve somehow managed to win just one them, and they were distinctly ordinary against 10-man Manchester City last-time out. It hasn’t taken long for the feel-good factor that Michael Carrick brought to the club last season to fall away and there is now a growing swathe of opinion among the Old Trafford faithful that the manager doesn’t have the tools in his locker to turn the ship around.

However, Carrick has been handed a very winnable fixture as he bids to get United firing back up the table and into the European places. The hosts are 8/11 to take all three points and pile more misery on Spurs, who are rooted to the foot of the table and 100/30 to bag their first maximum points haul of the campaign.

A break to refresh and reflect probably came at the right time for Carrick and although he hasn’t necessarily had much time to work with his players during that period, he probably only needs to make a couple of tweaks to get United back on track.

The Red Devils have gathered fewer points than their xG data suggests they should have but the tide will turn if they can find some ruthlessness in front of goal. Cunha, Mbeumo and captain Bruno Fernandes have all been quite wasteful so far but there is no doubt that when things finally click, that attacking triumvirate can cause porous Spurs all sorts of problems.

Spurs have been more competitive than their points total suggests but their output in the final third has let them down badly and they will do well to avoid a fourth defeat of the season here.

WHERE IS THE VALUE IN MANCHESTER UNITED v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR?

United look fair enough at 8/11 with starsports.bet, but the 9/5 about them winning by more than one goal looks juicy enough for a side that has been creating stacks of chances so far this season.
