From a purely footballing perspective, Sunday’s 3-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield was the perfect response to the headlines surrounding Manchester City over the past few weeks, capped off by a delicious goal from Rayan Cherki.

If City are to keep picking up results while all of this plays out, their best option is to embrace a siege mentality: an us-against-them mindset that allows them to shut out the noise and focus on the football. That’s exactly what they did at the weekend, and it’s the mentality they’ll need to carry into this clash with PSG.
