The Carabao Cup may not always get much love, but it’s given Fleetwood Town a marquee occasion as Arsenal, last season’s runners up who have made a fine start to this campaign, visit this evening, writes WILLIAM KEDJANYI.

FLEETWOOD TOWN v ARSENAL PREVIEW

It’s already been a fine cup run for the hosts, who have beaten Chesterfield, Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield United without conceding to reach this stage, although their League Two form explains the gulf in class between the pairing – the hosts are 18th in England’s fourth tier after just three wins in 13 outings and are the lowest ranked side left in the competition.

Any hope for the hosts will come from the fact that they’ve lost just two of their last 18 games at the aptly named Highbury Stadium whilst keeping 18 clean sheets in that time, but even a much-changed Arsenal side which will be resting key players packs first class talent and there’s no temptation to back an upset of any kind. Bar a suspension for midfielder Lewis McCann and injuries for Midfielders Andy Cannon and Kane Thompson-Sommer, the hosts are at full strength.

With Bukayo Saka injured, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard sure to be rested, we can expect to see many fringe players given their head. 18-year-old winger, Ceadach O’Neill is expected to start for the first time. 16-year-old star Max Dowman, who played a key role in Arsenal’s 4-2 win at Ipswich in the third round, will be looking to impress and there may be a role for Andre Harriman-Annous, who took part in full first-team training on Monday.

Most of the expected lineups include players such as Ben White, Christian Mosquera, Martin Zubimendi, and Viktor Gyokeres, all of whom will be looking to make an impression ahead of a massive trip to Anfield on Sunday.

WHERE’S THE BETTING VALUE IN FLEETWOOD TOWN v ARSENAL?

With such a gulf between the two sides, finding value isn’t easy – the visitors are 1/14 to win in 90 minutes with starsports.bet, and several normal options are heavily odds on.

A much-changed Arsenal side may take a bit of time to find their stride, but once they do so it should be a matter of by how far. Arsenal managed 4 at Premier League Ipswich last time out and have won four of their five away games with a clean sheet, so 3-0 and 4-0 correct scores should give backers a decent run for their money on paper at least.
