After back-to-back victories over Newcastle United in the League Cup and Premier League, Everton will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce – a result that could see them climb into the Champions League places.

Their latest triumph, which lifted them to seventh in the table, came courtesy of a Thierno Barry goal against a 10-man Newcastle side at St James’ Park. David Moyes’ men will be hoping for more of the same on Friday night as they come up against a familiar face in the opposition dugout.

Many feared Frank Lampard’s managerial career may have been over following his difficult spell at Everton, but he has rebuilt his reputation superbly since taking charge at Coventry. The Sky Blues have also found their feet in recent weeks following an early wake-up call to life in the Premier League.

A victory on Friday would lift Coventry into mid-table, at least temporarily, and provide some valuable breathing space from the relegation zone. That will undoubtedly be Lampard’s target as he prepares to face his former club.
