Exclusive: OISIN MURPHY Royal Ascot Preview | SATURDAY
Needless to say I’m over the moon to have got off the mark on Friday after some near misses and to do it in a Group 1 was perfect. I gave my reaction to Shaquille’s Commonwealth Stakes win to Bill Esdaile after the race ….
Now for the final day on Saturday …
SAYEDATY SADATY
2.30pm Chesham Stakes
I kick-off the final day of the meeting aboard Sayedaty Sadaty which means ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’ in Arabic. He was just beaten on the line at Yarmouth last time out and is a colt with a bright future. It’s a competitive race and one where you have to respect Aidan O’Brien who has won four of the last seven runnings. He fields the filly Pearls And Rubies who looks the one to beat, but I am nicely drawn near them in stall 10.
ZOOLOGY
3.05pm Jersey Stakes
Next up I’m on Zoology who faced soft ground in the Guineas trial at Newbury last time out. He has been freshened up since and we are very pleased with him. Covey tops the market and is a very nice horse who has been very progressive, as shown by him bolting up at Haydock last time out. I’m a big fan of Holguin, trained by Andrew Balding, and I’m sure he can outrun his odds. He has done nothing wrong in defeat this season by finishing second three times and he’s a horse who can run a massive race.
ART POWER
3.40pm Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes
It was a real pleasure to get the leg up on Art Power for the first time at the Curragh on his last start to win a Group 2. He is an older horse who has been terrific for the last few seasons. I’m really looking forward to riding him and genuinely think he has a massive outside chance – let’s hope the Australians are beatable! Artorius deserves to be favourite on what he has achieved, and he looks the one. Wellington represents Hong Kong and he’s been a terrific servant for Richard Gibson over the last few years. At a big price, Sandrine likes Ascot, won the Albany Stakes as a two-year-old, and can go very well.
⭐ QUEEN ELIZABETH II STAKES MARKET ⭐
4.20pm Hardwicke Stakes
BIELSA
5.00pm Wokingham Stakes
LION OF WAR
5.35pm Golden Gates Stakes
I ride Lion Of War who was very good when winning at Musselburgh last time out. He is well-weighted, but has a tricky draw in stall 17. It will be difficult, but I hope I am right there in the mix.
⭐ GOLDEN GATES STAKES MARKET ⭐
TYPEWRITER
6.10pm Queen Alexandra Stakes
My last ride of the meeting is Typewriter for Andrew Balding. She is by Gleneagles and has done nothing wrong to date. We are not certain if she will stay, but if she does, she will have more than enough class to be there at the business end. I respect Stratum at the top of the market. You’d imagine the drying ground may not be to his exact liking, but hopefully, Typewriter will be bang there.
⭐ QUEEN ALEXANDRA STAKES MARKET ⭐
I hope you have enjoyed my blogs this week and good luck for the final day of Royal Ascot
