HARRY SKELTON: Aintree Saturday

It was good to get on the board on Friday at Aintree, and hopefully we can carry that momentum into Saturday, writes HARRY SKELTON.

We’ve got a nice team of runners up at Aintree, and it looks like there are plenty of interesting races throughout the afternoon, so we’re looking forward to seeing how they all get on.

AINTREE

OLD COAST ROAD – 12:40pm Aintree (⭐️ STAR PRICE ? )

He makes his debut over hurdles after running nicely in a bumper at Chepstow. He’s been showing plenty of promise at home and we’re looking forward to seeing how he gets on over obstacles. Although there are only four runners, it looks a really competitive little race, with all four horses seemingly held in high regard by their connections. A couple have more experience over hurdles, which is always an advantage, but we’re very happy with what we’ve seen from our lad so far. We think he’s a nice horse with plenty of ability, and the step up in distance should suit him well. Hopefully, he can make a nice start over hurdles at a track like Aintree.

KADASTRAL – 1:15pm Aintree (⭐️ STAR PRICE ? )

Kadastral runs in the two-mile handicap chase, and we’re hoping a switch to fences can help him take the next step forward. It was a slightly frustrating season for him last year, although he hadn’t really done much wrong and was often coming up against some very good horses. Hopefully, chasing can become his job this season, and this looks a good opportunity to get him started over fences. He’s still relatively unexposed and has been jumping nicely at home, so we’re looking forward to seeing how he takes to it on the track. Whatever happens on Saturday, it’s a race he’ll learn plenty from, and the experience should be valuable moving forward.

TALK TO THE MAN – 2:25pm Aintree (⭐️ STAR PRICE ? )

He runs in the Grade 2 novice chase and he’s a horse we’ve been getting to know since he joined us this season. He made a very pleasing start to life with us at Worcester, where he won well and jumped nicely throughout. He was very professional in the way he went about things and showed a good turn of foot when quickening up to put the race to bed. He beat a nice horse in the process, so it was an encouraging performance and one that gave us plenty to be positive about. This is another step up in class, but we think the track and trip will suit him very well. He’s shown us plenty of ability so far and we’re hopeful he can take this next challenge in his stride.

BOOMBAWN – 3:35pm Aintree (⭐️ STAR PRICE ? )

Boombawn runs in the two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase and there should be plenty in his favour. The conditions of the race will suit him well and he’ll enjoy the ground, while he also loves a flat track. He’s run well at Aintree before, so it’s a venue we know he can perform at. It looks a competitive contest, as you’d expect, but with the trip, ground and track all to his liking, we’re hopeful he can put in a good performance. I’d expect him to go there with every chance.

AL CAPONY – 4:05pm Aintree (⭐️ STAR PRICE ? )

We’re looking forward to seeing him make his debut in the bumper, which is exclusively for three-year-olds. He’s been doing everything nicely at home and has shown us plenty of encouragement in his work so far. You never quite know what you’re going to come up against in these bumpers, particularly with a field of horses all making their first appearances, but from our point of view, we’re very happy with how he’s been going. He’s taken everything in his stride at home and, based on what we’ve seen, we’d be disappointed if he didn’t run a nice race.
