Our roving reporter HANNAH BAYCROFT visits The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre at Halton in Lancashire, where she speaks to CEO Gillian Carlisle, who provides valuable insights into the centre’s history and the significant impact it has had on the industry.

In Part 1, Gillian tells Hannah about the history of the BTRC and explains how the state-of-the-art facilities are used for both rehabilitation and retraining of thoroughbreds – including a demonstration in the Hallo Dandy centre.

Gillian also explains how new horses arrive at the centre, including the step-by-step process behind rehoming horses who arrive.
