STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Mon: Manchester United v Bournemouth

We’re nearly half-way through the season but the Premier League is as tight as ever with both Manchester United and Bournemouth able to take a potential jump up tonight, writes WILLIAM KEDJANYI.

Wins for Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa have seen that three extend their gap on the rest but before that, and there are just four points separating Crystal Palace (fifth) from 12th-placed Newcastle, with Bournemouth just two points further back.

Remarkably Reuben Amorim will be regretful United aren’t further up – before an easy win at Wolves Everton won 1-0 at Old Trafford despite playing with 10 men for 80 minutes and a struggling West Ham side battled to a 1-1 draw infront of the home faithful. On both those occasions an attack that looked to be taking promising steps in the right direction lacked cutting edge, something that Amorim will hope isn’t a sign of things to come with Bryan Mbeumo due to be involved in AFCON.

⭐️ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐️

Bournemouth started the season in sensational style but have dropped off recently, with a six-game winless run in the Premier League and a drought of five games without victory away from home also. It’s no surprise that a downturn in form for star man Antoine Semenyo, on a run of 10 matches for club and country without a goal, hasn’t helped.

The Cherries are better than that run suggests but are hard to recommend at the match odds with starsports.bet – with a case that can be made for all three outcomes. United’s poor home performances make it easy enough to avoid quotes of ? for a home victory at the time of writing, a draw would not be a surprise, and Bournemouth are good enough if showing their best, but they haven’t shown enough recently.

The best route into the game looks to be goals. United’s only clean sheet in 16 matches this season came in October’s 2-0 home win over Sunderland, and it’s been well known that their improvement has come going forward over the last couple of months. Bournemouth have had a couple of rollercoaster encounters away from home, drawing 3-3 at Crystal Palace and letting a two goal lead slip at Sunderland, and their away fixtures average 4.29 goals per game this season.

Both teams have scored in nine of United’s last 11 league games so that will be a popular part of many bet-builders but keeping it simple and backing Over 3.5 goals might be the way to go. This United defence can be got at – as Iraola has proven on his last two visits here – but an open game would also suit the hosts as well.
