BARCELONA v ASTON VILLA PREVIEW

Barcelona will be looking to bounce back in Europe after suffering a 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, with Hansi Flick’s men welcoming an in-form Aston Villa side to the Camp Nou.

The Catalans responded in emphatic fashion at the weekend, thrashing Alaves 6-1 to underline the attacking firepower that makes them such a dangerous opponent on home soil.

However, Barcelona’s defensive record remains a concern, having gone 18 consecutive Champions League matches without keeping a clean sheet.

Villa, meanwhile, arrive in Catalonia with a perfect Champions League record, having beaten Club Brugge, Fenerbahce and Viking to collect nine points from their opening three games.

Unai Emery’s side have shown they can compete with Europe’s best, and their attacking threat should give Barcelona’s injury-hit defence plenty to think about. With Villa chasing a fourth straight European victory, this promises to be a fascinating test of both sides’ credentials.
