STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Tues: England v Japan
A few more players will get a chance to impress Thomas Tuchel ahead of the World Cup this summer, with England taking on Japan in an international friendly match at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday, writes JOE CITRONE.
England didn’t impress too much in their 1-1 draw against Uruguay last week, but a couple of players might have boosted their World Cup hopes, with James Garner receiving praise from Tuchel, and Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford also impressing.
However, the opposite may be true for Phil Foden, Dominic Solanke, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who failed to take their chance to boost their prospects of securing a place on the plane to the USA this summer.
England’s side should look a little stronger in this match against Japan, with Jordan Pickford, Nico O’Reilly, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi, and Harry Kane all joining the camp, although they will be without Arsenal trio Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Declan Rice, who have withdrawn through ‘injury’.

Japan managed to defeat a lacklustre Scotland 1-0 on Saturday thanks to a late strike from Junya Ito, which led to the Tartan Army being booed off the field by their own supporters.
Hajime Moriyasu’s side will be looking to build on that momentum as they ramp up their own preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
Japan have never beaten England in three previous attempts, and I expect that to continue on Tuesday evening, with a strengthened Three Lions side looking to get back to winning ways after being held by Uruguay last week.
I fancy England to win to nil at 6/4 with starsports.bet, and also I will back Rogers to score anytime, with the Aston Villa frontman looking to nail down a spot in Tuchel’s best XI ahead of Jude Bellingham.
