Liverpool begin their hunt for EFL Cup success on Tuesday night when they take on Southampton, who have made a poor start to their Championship campaign, writes JOE CITRONE.

Having already won the competition 10 times, Arne Slot’s Reds will be out for number 11 this season as they look for another big silverware haul.

So far in their Premier League season, they have won all four of their fixtures, but it is likely to be a different Liverpool side on Tuesday night with Slot expected to shuffle the pack.

It has been a very disappointing start to the Championship campaign for Southampton, with the weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Hull City the latest blow to their pre-season expectations of a promotion push.
