STAR PREVIEW Tues: Champions League
PSG and Bayern Munich combined to produce a Champions League classic last week and fans could be in for a treat once again as the pair meet in tonight’s second leg. PSG raced into a 2-0 lead with strikes from Kylian Mbappe and Marquinhos before being pegged back by goals from Eric Choupo-Moting and Thomas Muller, only for Mbappe, who else, to score the winner.
That has given PSG the driving seat in no uncertain terms – they’re 4/11 to make it to the semi-finals with starsports.bet – and the tactical situation tonight should suit them down to the ground. It’s no secret that tonight’s hosts are at their best when able to counter attack – mainly through Angel Di Maria, Neymar and Mbappe – and with Bayern needing to score to stay in the competition, their trident should surely get a chance to run at the Bayern backline once again.

That – and the continued absence of Robert Lewandowski – will be absolutely crucial given just how much pressure Bayern put on PSG last week. Bayern won the shot count 31-6, the shots on target count 12-5, the corner count 15-1 and InfoGol’s xG count 4.28 to 1.65, a result that on any other night would surely see them holding the advantage heading into this second leg.
Based on that, Bayern’s price of 11/10 to win tonight is understandable – Joshua Kimmich alone created nine chances last week and PSG never found an answer to stopping him and Thomas Muller in midfield – but it would be no surprise if PSG managed to score at least once with Bayern having to press forward, which is an ideal situation for Di Maria, Neymar and Mbappe.
The 19/10 on Bayern Munich winning with both teams scoring could be the value play in what has the potential to be another great encounter.
Elsewhere, Chelsea can seal their progress to the semi-finals in style with victory over Porto. A 5-2 defeat to West Brom appears to be an aberration based on their 2-0 win last week in the first leg (takes place in Sevilla, like tonight’s game) and their 4-1 stroll at Crystal Palace, when Kai Havertz had what may have been his best game in a Chelsea shirt whilst Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mateo Kovacic were all excellent.
We can expect more resistance from Porto tonight, but they will have to chase the game from the start and that gives Chelsea a tactical advantage, especially with Reece James and Ben Chilwell looking dangerous on the flanks, and Chelsea have the quality to double up here.
